Nashik farmers reach Mumbai as part of protest against farm laws ANI | Updated: Jan 24, 2021 21:19 IST
Nashik (Maharashtra) [India], January 24 (ANI): Farmers from Nashik affiliated to All India Kisan Sabha and other farmer organisations reached Azad Maidan in Mumbai on Sunday evening after having marched in support of farmers agitating against three agriculture laws at Delhi borders.
Farmers will gather in Mumbai and then march towards Delhi so as to support the ongoing farmers protest in Delhi on Republic Day.
Around 15,000 farmers had already started their statewide vehicle march from Nashik to Mumbai on Saturday. The march, which began from the Golf Club Maidan with hundreds of tempos and other vehicles, was halted in the night at Ghatandevi near Igatpuri.

Thousands of farmers from across Maharashtra reached Mumbai on Sunday evening to participate in a joint sit-in at Azad Maidan on Monday against the Centre’s three new farm laws. The farmers from the Left-affiliated All-India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) and other farm outfits had begun their 180-km march from Nashik district.
Police have stepped up security and personnel of the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) have been deployed at Azad Maidan. Drones will also be used to keep an eye on the event, an official said.
On Sunday morning, a sea of red snaked out of Nashik district, with farmers on foot, on jeeps and vans steadily clogging roads, toll plazas and mountainous routes of Nashik’s Kasara Ghat.
Farm Laws: 50,000 Maharashtra farmers will march towards Raj Bhavan on Monday
From Nashik alone, 20,000 farmers had joined the march and we are expecting 50,000 farmers will reach in Mumbai on January 25 from other parts of the state.

More than 50,000 farmers from various regions of Maharashtra will march towards the Raj Bhavan and submit its charter of demands to Governor Bhagat Singh Kosyari on January 25, Monday.
