Nigerian singer, Omah Lay has confirmed that he was arrested by the police in Uganda on Saturday.
DAILY POST had reported that the singer was arrested for flouting COVID-19 protocols while performing on Saturday night at a concert held at Speke Resort.
The deputy police spokesman, Kampala Metropolitan said the singer was picked by Katwe police, together with the venue manager Ivan Dungu and events manager Prim Kasana.
However, the singer in a post via his Twitter account on Sunday said everything will be alright and efforts are being made to ensure his release.

Yesterday, the news went viral that the new kid on the block Stanley Omah Didia known as Omah Lay was arrested in Uganda alongside fellow rising star Temilade Openiyi known as Tems.
The singers were picked up by Katwe Police in Uganda after performing at a concert in the country.
Omah Lay and Tems performed at an event tagged The Big Brunch, which held at Speke Resort, Wavamunno Rd, Kampala, Uganda. x
According to the Ugandan news outlet, The Independent, the organizers of the event disguised the show as a lunch and dinner event but later on, at night started inviting artists to perform.
Omah, 23, in a tweet said he was with the police on Sunday.
“Yes I’m with the Ugandan police… something about the show from last night. Everything would be fine…Omah ,” he wrote.
In another tweet he shared a line from his song ‘Godly’.
“Oluwa na him comfort me ✊,” he wrote.
The Uganda police in a tweet said the singers and some other people were arrested for holding an unauthorized concert.
“Those arrested are Ivan Ddungu, the manager of the place where the concert was held, Omah Lay the musician and Prim Kasana, Events Manager, who contracted Omah Lay to sing,” they wrote.
