Udupi, Jan 13: In a tragic incident, 75-year-old newspaper distributor Ashok Kodancha was killed after his two-wheeler collided with a bike at Gujjadi, near Gangolli.
The incident took place on Wednesday, January 13. Meanwhile, the person on the bike, Sahil suffered injuries in the accident.
A man identified as Ibrahim Abrar Soofi of Gangolli carried both the injured in 24x7 ambulance.
The deceased, Ashok has been working as a newspaper distributor for 10 years and was director of the Kalpataru Multipurpose Cooperative Society in Gujjadi for over 25 years. He is survived by wife, son and a daughter.
UDUPI: A college student who allegedly set himself on fire at a private college ground late on Saturday succumbed to burn injuries in the early hours of Sunday. Police who identified the victim as Shrivastava, 20, first year BA student from Badagabettu, said he was under treatment for mental health issues and had skipped classes of the second semester. Police recovered a can of petrol and a lighter from the ground. A case of unnatural death has been registered in Udupi town police station.

Kundapur, Dec 28: Police arrested a person for selling cow meat from door-to-door on Monday December 28.
This incident took place near Gangolli fish market in the taluk. The arrested accused is identified as Abdul Rahim (30), a local resident.
Gangolli police sub-inspector Bheemashankar was on beat rounds duty of Gangolli market, along with head constable Girish. They got definite information that Abdul Rahim is selling cow meat door-to-door near Gangolli fish market. When the police visited the spot and inspected, they found four kilograms of illegal cow meat that Abdul Rahim was carrying with him.
