Well, that glorious defeat is being immortalised in a YouTube series. The series was one of five projects to receive official Screen Australia funding, according to an announcement Wednesday morning. One of the projects includes  Sunset Paradise, a new show from the makers of the  Sunset Paradise has already aired online, gathering more than 1.27 million views at the time of writing.

The announcement: Screen Australia has announced $1.3 million of online production funding for five projects. Award-winning children’s series First Day will return for season 2, along with ReCancelled which follows on from director Luke Eve’s 2020 lockdown drama Cancelled. The projects also include Sunset Paradise, a new series from the creators of YouTube hit Meta Runner; as well as animated children’s series Ginger & the Vegesaurs and comedy series The Emu War. Screen Australia’s Senior Online Investment Manager Lee Naimo said, “We’re excited to support these projects which showcase engaging storytelling across a mix of genres including children’s, comedy, animation and a relationship drama. EXCLUSIVE: ABC’s slate is always bursting at the seams with drama, comedy, entertainment documentary, kids and news -so big, it can’t all be accommodated here. But ABC Director Entertainment & Specialist Michael Carrington tells TV Tonight about some of the surprises in store this year. New comedy Aftertaste, with Erik Thomson as an angry chef returning home to Adelaide, premieres tonight. The series is produced by Closer Productions ( The Hunting) with Michael Carrington noting Thomson’s abrasive character will face redemption. “We’re very excited about it. It’s a terrific comedy, starring Erik Thompson and Natalie Abbott. Her character is charming, and gives the emotional, humorous connection, that hopefully softens him as the series progresses,” he says.
