Minister Fortier and Minister Carr meet with Community Leaders in Winnipeg as part of Budget 2021 consultations

Today, the Honourable Mona Fortier, Minister of Middle Class Prosperity and Associate Minister of Finance, and the Honourable Jim Carr, Special Representative for the Prairies, met virtually with stakeholders in Winnipeg, Manitoba, to hear their ideas about how Budget 2021 can support families, workers and businesses and help the city become stronger, and more inclusive after the pandemic.
The government has a plan to make smart, targeted investments to jumpstart the country’s economic recovery so Canada can come roaring back after the pandemic.

Today, the Honourable Mona Fortier, Minister of Middle Class Prosperity and Associate Minister of Finance, and the Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Health, met virtually with health care organizations and associations from across Canada to hear their ideas about how Budget 2021 can continue to support the health and safety of Canadians through the pandemic. The discussion and ideas shared with Minister Fortier and Minister Hajdu during the round table will also help the government ensure an inclusive, equitable and resilient recovery that leaves no one behind.
Protecting the health and safety of Canadians is the government’s top priority as it continues to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. Crucial to this work is the heroic dedication of Canada’s health care professionals, who are working on the frontlines of this crisis.

OTTAWA, ON, Dec. 17, 2020 /CNW/ - When experiencing symptoms, self-isolation is one of the most effective ways to help stop the spread of COVID-19. However, for some Canadians, crowded housing conditions and restrictive costs can make it unsafe or impossible to self-isolate, increasing the risk of community transmission.
Today, the Honourable Mona Fortier, Minister of Middle Class Prosperity and Associate Minister of Finance, and the Honourable Catherine McKenna, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, on behalf of the Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Health, announced $4.7 million over 7 months for Ottawa Public Health to establish a safe, voluntary isolation site. This site will help Canadians in Ottawa who have COVID-19, or have been exposed to it, access accommodations to keep themselves and their community safe.
