Ramona s Clark makes leap from trampoline to diving board - wins section title

Print During his middle school years, Caden Clark began to learn flips on the trampoline. When he made the transition from Olive Peirce Middle School to Mountain Valley Academy, he transferred some of those moves to the Bulldogs’ diving team. It apparently worked. Clark, now a junior, won the CIF Division II boys diving championship on April 23. Clark had 210.40 points on his six dives during the CIF meet at Granite Hills High School. La Jolla Country Day senior Ethan Estrada had the second-place Division II score of 181.55 points. “Stuff like that does not come easy, and it takes a lot of dedication and hard work,” said Clark.

People wanted to run the extra mile for Paul Hoover

View Comments I peeked ahead on my calendar and found an entry for May 17 that says: “Paul Hoover Trial Begins.” It turns out the trial has been pushed back – again. This time to Aug. 2, 2021. The wheels of justice are grinding much slower than Paul Hoover ran even on a bad day. It is yet another devastating delay for the Hoover family. This time it is a discovery delay – witnesses are vacationing.  It happened so fast – in the blink of an eye. We may never know all the details of what happened on May 23, 2017. However, we are certain that Jarvis Strickland blasted over a hill on Springhill Road in his Toyota Camry driving at extreme speeds before plowing into Paul Hoover at a speed of 89 miles per hour ending his life at the age of 66.

Opinion: Civic Association President Robosson lists 2020-21 programs, progress

Mary Robosson Special to the Daily News More than a year ago, when the weight of the COVID-19 pandemic began to be felt, the Palm Beach Civic Association acted swiftly to keep our members, directors and employees safe.  Events were canceled or postponed. A remote work policy was enacted for our staff. From March 13, 2020, through our annual meeting on April 30, an entire year passed without any in-person gatherings. All internal meetings were conducted electronically.  Yet we managed to make it through a global pandemic, never once hitting the pause button, to serve our community in ways like we had never done before.
