The recipients were recognized at the university s commencement ceremonies May 13-15. Kenneth Janke was selected to receive a Doctor of Science Honoris Causa Janke joined Aflac Incorporated in 1985 as Manager of Investor Relations. During his tenure with the company, he was named the best investor relations officer by Investor Relations Magazine. In addition, under his leadership, Aflac was recognized as having the best investor relations department for a large-cap company and also was named among the top 50 employers for minorities and working mothers three times.

All quotes from Meyer and her attorney were translated from the French transcript of the interview unless stated otherwise.   Holocaust survivor and French businesswoman Léone Meyer spoke in French for the duration of her hour-long interview with The Daily.  Separated by seven hours and over 4,000 miles, OU French professor Peyton Vann translated as Meyer shared the story behind her ongoing legal struggle with OU over the ownership of “Shepherdess Bringing in Sheep,” an 1886 painting by famed impressionist Camille Pissarro looted from Meyer’s father, Raoul Meyer, during World War II.

OU hosts fourth annual Giving Day

OU is hosting its fourth annual OU Giving Day Tuesday, encouraging students, alumni and others to make donations that will assist the university in maintaining student opportunities and experiences across its three campuses. According to its website, OU Giving Day is a one-day event where people provide donations to the university in the area of their choosing. Donations go to support areas including the Norman Campus, fine arts, OU Athletics, student affairs and student organizations, scholarships and others. For those wanting to donate to unlisted areas, there is an option listed as “other” on the donation page. According to the website, the challenges page  provides gift-matching events over various areas, sponsored by donors. Donors who are unsure if they work for a company that supports gift-matching programs for employees can visit this website to check.
