Why do teams constantly recycle people (WFT and Hurney) versus looking at new blood or someone outside of the inner circle of retreads?
It’s a fair question, T Ron Rivera did run the search in D.C., and the names the team cycled through were all connected to him. Both ex-Panthers GM Marty Hurney and Titans exec Ryan Cowden worked with him in Carolina, while ex-Lions GM/current 49ers exec Martin Mayhew shares an agent with him. But, really, I don’t have a huge issue with that. I think any coach, charged with leading a search, would seek that sort of alignment.

The Detroit Lions organization is overhauling their coaching staff with New Orleans Saints assistant coaches Dan Campbell and Aaron Glenn.

Recent reports say New Orleans assistant head coach and tight ends coach Dan Campbell will become the Lions head coach. Campbell recruited the Saints secondary coach, Aaron Glenn, to accompany him in Detroit as the team s defensive coordinator.
In his 21 NFL years and fifth season in New Orleans, Campbell has worked with Ben Watson, Jared Cook, and Josh Hill. Hill s style of play and blocking ability patterns how Campbell played in his NFL days. He also served as six seasons in Miami and became their interim head coach for 12 games in 2016.
