11 local virus cases revealed

KETCHIKAN (KDN) – The Ketchikan Emergency Operations Center recorded 11 new coronavirus cases between its Friday and Monday evening updates, and one individual was hospitalized in the COVID-19 unit at PeaceHealth Ketchikan Medical Center on Monday. “One case was reported late evening on May 7; three cases were reported on May 8, and seven cases were reported today,” according to the EOC  release. “Of the 11, six were determined to be close contacts to known positive cases, and five remain under investigation.” In total, 10 cases were under investigation as to source on Monday evening. “During the contact investigations, Public Health will coordinate with the positive person to reach out to anyone who may be a close contact and instruct them to quarantine,” the EOC statement read. “In the event of a positive case associated with the school district, Public Health will coordinate with school district staff to reach out to anyone who may be

42 virus cases active locally

KETCHIKAN (KDN) – Ketchikan on Wednesday set a new record for the highest single-day case total for 2021 thus far, with 13 cases counted by the local Emergency Operations Center. “Two cases were determined to be community spread; one case was related to recent travel; one case was determined to be close contact to a known positive; and nine remain under investigation,” according to a Wednesday evening EOC press release. Of the cases that were pending EOC investigation after being recorded on Tuesday, six were found to be due to close contact with a known positive, one was determined to be community spread and one was still being investigated as of Wednesday.
