Wise Owl Films has completed its first commission for Channel 4.
Second-Hand for 50 Grand will follow the staff and customers of Xupes, a company which specialises in luxury pre-owned goods - from Rolex watches to Chanel handbags.
“In 2021, second-hand chic is the latest must-have for luxury lovers who want something that no one else has got,” said Wise Owl Films’ Creative Director Mark Robinson.
“It was fascinating to see how much expertise and detective work went into finding – and putting a value on – these incredible rare items. It was a privilege to hear the often emotional stories behind why clients fall in love with them”.
The 37th Spring Poetry series, sponsored by Salina Arts and Humanities continues this year in a virtual format.
The series opens on April 6 with readings beginning at 7 p.m. from Joe McKenzie and Lori Black via Zoom video conferencing.
Those who attend the virtual readings will be invited to ask the poets questions after the reading.
Brad Anderson, executive director of Salina Arts and Humanities, said the virtual format will help enhance the experience of the series while helping keep the Salina community safe during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“This year’s format for the Spring Poetry Series needed to adapt due to the pandemic and its impact on the community,” Anderson said. “Shifting to a virtual event will allow the poets and audience to safely engage as they experience recent work by an exceptional group of poets.”
A 90th anniversary celebration of The Star-Spangled Banner officially becoming the national anthem of the United States took place Wednesday at Residence 600.
Residents sang and commemorated the event with help from the Salina VFW Auxiliary. Residence 600 is a senior living community at 600 E. Elm Street in Salina.
Kathy McCandless, junior vice president of the VFW Auxiliary was invited by Kim Rayas, executive director of Residence 600, to collaborate on an anniversary event.
“We thought it was a great idea,” said McCandless. “In addition to flags for everyone, we have commemorative coins for all veterans here today. On the back they say, thank you for your service.”
