Hospitalizations related to COVID-19 in north Alabama have seen a sharp increase over the last week, reversing a weeks-long trend where those numbers have been in constant decline. The Huntsville Hospital Healthcare System, which includes facilities across north Alabama, has seen inpatient care for those testing positive for the virus increase by 58 percent since April 8. On Friday, Huntsville Hospital reported 57 inpatients across the system, up from 35 on April 8. The increase, while not setting off alarms, is the first since early January when began to decline from a high of more than 500 in the system.
