Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau has been celebrated in American media as a socialist dreamboat, often compared in progressive sex appeal to our own Barack Obama. This broke out again (to conservative mockery on Twitter) when Politico reviewed the year in Canada with a reflection on how Trudeau s beard was capital-S Significant:
Ted Cruz asked Tell me, why is Significant capitalized?
Daily Caller asked Is this journalism or fan fiction.?
Cam Edwards, whose beard is headed for ZZ Top territory, joked That is not a Significant beard.
Derek Hunter just wrote Adults produced this.
Giancarlo Sopo tweeted Did Justin Trudeau s abuelita write this?

The Paper of Record has spoken! The NYT apparently endorses having a quickie in the bushes when out for a run

The New York Times has an op-ed out titled, “The Joys of Frivolous Sex” on being single in the age of Covid-19 but it’s one of the comments highlighted by a staffer at the paper of record that’s getting mocked right now on Twitter.
First up, the article:
“There has been no serious effort to confront the particular challenges of what it is to be single to be alone in 2020,” writes @mmegannolan. Yet “we are also going through something painful.” https://t.co/1U7N7E33lJ

Yesterday, Congress announced a deal had been reached on a new COVID relief bill, at least insofar as getting it to the floor for a vote. In reality, almost no one has actually read it. This all happened after months of stonewalling by Democrats as Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer sought to ensure maximum political damage occurred to President Trump. They played a cynical game with people’s lives and the media praised them for it.
Well, now we are getting details about this newest “compromise.” You’ll be less than shocked to learn that the bill is mostly trash, full of unrelated spending, and short on help for average Americans. In fact, only 1/5th of the bill goes to sending relief checks directly to the people.
Rukmini Callimachi’s got a lot to be proud of:
An editor s note has been added today to another @nytimes story by @rcallimachi, this one from 2014 https://t.co/VwdRwjHeCVpic.twitter.com/tzAznleVHv
And to another story, this one from the end of 2019. The Times investigators were looking at a broader range of work than just Caliphate https://t.co/FULAJwCmMs
Don’t worry. We’re sure there’s still lots more where that came from.
Michael Barbaro, host of the New York Times’ podcast The Daily, also spoke to Dean Baquet about the issue:
My conversation with @deanbaquet and @MarkMazzettiNYT about the findings of an NYT investigation into Caliphate and it s central character.
“The bottom line: I don’t get paid a lot. I’m just trying to make ends meet,” Kwei told The Post. “I truly don’t think this has anything to do with being a paramedic.”
…
Kwei defended her side gig. “At the end of the day, it doesn’t affect how I treat people. What I do in my free time is my business. It has no effect on how I care for my patients. I know when I’m working, I’m a paramedic. I think I’m pretty good at my job.”
Kwei added, “There are plenty of people who are medical professionals who have every right to do what they want with their own bodies. I’m not doing it at work. Health care workers aren’t making a lot of money. And I’m not the only one trying to make ends meet.”
