It is not exceptionally cold but it is a long run. Normally this time of year you have one cold morning, then it warms up again . but the last week, the cool south to south-westerly winds almost a week since the cold front back on Monday.
Sydney temperatures dropped to 8.7C at sunrise this morning marking the city s coldest run of nights this early in the year in 66 years with temperatures dropping to 9C or lower on five consecutive nights.
In Sydney s west, it was just 1C in Camden, 2C in Campbelltown, 3C in Penrith and 5C at Olympic Park.
It dropped to 7C and 11C respectively in Adelaide and Brisbane, while Canberrans are waking to an icy -2.7C.
Meteorologists say most of southeast Australia saw its strongest taste of early winter over the weekend, with frigid overnight temperatures and low daytime maximums.
Those in Victoria, NSW and South Australia are warned similar conditions could return in coming days.
The icy weather is due to a cold front that has crept in over the Great Australian Bight over the past few days, which has kept intensely cold conditions localised across Australia s southeast.
While conditions have remained dry in other areas including Western Australia, northern Queensland and the Top End, a trough crossing WA s west coast today will generate showers and storms.

Yesterday’s beautiful State Memorial Service was a fitting tribute to a universally revered community and business leader.
Frank Costa was the embodiment of traditional family values, for him family was everything. At the same time he was a business leader way ahead of his time. He practiced values based leadership long before it became a fashionable management buzz word. Likewise was his mantra of “Hire for character, train for skill”.
Frank could talk all right; when he spoke people listened and were swayed by his passion, vision and optimism. Most of all he was authentic. Leaders who try to be authentic tend to fall short. Frank did not have to make an effort to be authentic, he just was. With Frank what you saw and heard was what you got and he made you feel better just by being in his company.

The film will be Rinehartâs second directorial effort while it will be Melloâs first feature-length screenplay. The pair previously teamed up to develop a film titled, âThe Embalmers,â which is currently in post-production.
