Tigers Wrap Up Competition at NCAA Columbus Regional in 10th Place

Columbus, Ohio - Led by a final-round, even-par 72 from Savannah Grewal, the Clemson women’s golf team closed out play at the NCAA Columbus Regional hosted by Ohio State on The Ohio State University Golf Club - Scarlet Course. The 54-hole NCAA Regional site took the top six teams and three individuals following stroke play competition to advance to the NCAA Nationals being held at the Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz. from May 21-26. Georgia, Duke, Arizona State, Kentucky, Michigan, and Kent State stayed above the cut line to book their ticket to the national tournament while the top three individuals not from a qualifying team advanced. Clemson Earns 8-Seed in NCAA Regional Selection Clemson, S.C. – The Clemson women’s golf team was one of 18 teams selected for the Columbus-regional at the Ohio State University Golf Club – Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio. The 54-hole event will take place from May 10-12 with the top six teams from each regional site advancing to the NCAA Nationals set to be played at the Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz. from May 21-26. “This has been a tough year,” said Head Coach Kelley Hester. “I think we all feel blessed and fortunate to know that we are going to be having an NCAA Regional this year and that we are going to be there competing. I think our team is a good 8-seed and believe they made a really good run this spring – we are looking forward to that regional in Columbus.”

The Sooners on Wednesday landed a bid to the NCAA Columbus Regional, the women’s golf team’s fourth consecutive regional trip and its ninth in the last 11 years under head coach Veronique Drouin-Luttrell. The regional scheduled for May 10-12 comes at the perfect time as OU is playing maybe its best golf of the season. “Being able to continue to play in May is always our goal,” Drouin-Luttrell said in an OU press release, “and after everything was stopped last year, it made us hungry to get back and push each other. We ve got one of the top-scoring averages in the nation and know we can compete with anyone out there, and we look forward to the opportunity.

Shepherd Picks Up All-ACC Honors

Shepherd Picks Up All-ACC Honors Clemson, S.C. – Junior Ivy Shepherd was named to the All-ACC Women’s Golf Team, announced by the conference office on Thursday.  Shepherd has led the Clemson squad this season with a 72.78 stroke average across six tournaments. Throughout her 18 rounds of competition, the Peachtree City, Ga. native has recorded two top 10 finishes at the Palmetto Spring Invitational (6th) and Clover Cup (3rd).  Her 209, seven-under-par total at the Clover Cup led the Clemson team this season in tournaments vs. par while her score counted in all but one round this year. In that total, the junior had the best score of the round six times and the best tournament four times.
