The Ohio Controlling Board’s funding approvals at its last scheduled meeting of 2020 included funding for a gas station site cleanup project in Painesville. According to board documents, the city of Painesville will receive more than $317,000 for the project at 750 S. State St. The funds from the Abandoned Gas Station Clean Up Grant will be used for excavation of impacted soil, approximately 950 yards (estimated 1,700 tons), according to board documents. - Advertisement - “Expected excavation depth is eight feet to the top of groundwater,” the funding request stated. “Shoring is needed to protect the on-site building and adjacent roadway. Imported clean backfill will be returned to the excavation. The on-site building will remain.”

State Controlling Board OK s COVID Relief Funds

By Newsroom Dec 15, 2020 State Senator Bob Peterson (R-Washington Court House) has announced that the Ohio Controlling Board has approved $12.1 million in funding to assist Ohio s colleges and universities as they operate remotely throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. At Monday’s Controlling Board meeting, Peterson voted in favor of the Ohio Department of Higher Education establishing the Last Mile Enhancement Program, in partnership with the Ohio Academic Resources Network. This program will increase broadband capacity at up to 40 universities throughout Ohio, including Ohio Christian University, University of Rio Grande and Rio Grande Community College, Southern State Community College and Wilmington College. The Last Mile Enhancement Program will increase broadband capacity to 10-Gigabit per second at colleges and universities that currently have a broadband capacity of 1-Gigabit per second or less, improving their ability to provide essential educational services to their stud
