YOUNGSTOWN My Brothers Keeper Youngstown Youth Academy will officially begin its youth leadership programming by participating in the Ohio Youth in Government Program at Camp Wilson in Marysville.
My Brothers Keeper is sponsored by the Community Initiative to Reduce Violence program in partnership with the YMCA of Youngstown.
The Youth in Government Program on Saturday is a day-long program to experience the process of House and Senate sessions and elections.
Youths in the program learn about the legislative process, how to write and research bills, and how to participate in elections. The work culminates in youths serving as delegates at their state conference, debating bills on the floor of the legislature. Some youths in the program have made bills to laws in the past.
