PUTNEY â Yellow Barnâs summer music festival will take place this year in person from July 9 to Aug. 7, but the planning is part of a never-ending process, said executive director Catherine Stephan in a recent interview.
âThatâs the invisible side of Yellow Barn,â she said, âthat people donât know.â
In January and February, Seth Knopp, Yellow Barnâs artistic director, goes on the audition tour. He visits eight cities in the United States and three or four in Europe to hear live auditions. These auditions are designed to help the musicians be their âbest self,â Stephan said, with the feeling of competition left at the door.

BRATTLEBORO â A high-flying theatrical circus production presented by the New England Center for Circus Arts will be streaming on demand today through June 6.
In Impetus, styled in all capital letters, the circus schoolâs graduating class of ProTrack students aim to capture the ways in which humans connect to influence, inspire, and irritate one another through space and time, according to a provided description. Devised by the circus schoolâs 2021 graduates and directed by Colleen Harris, it is the final Circus Capstone Project for professionally ready students attending the three-year training program.
