This history needs to be preserved, as some artifacts date back hundreds of years. Nicole Camarda - Idaho News 6 “So, the Owyhee County Museum has been here for 60 years and we have been collecting and preserving Owyhee County s history. Everything from mining to ranching, farming, all of that is preserved here on about a one-acre lot. It s important to preserve this stuff because you can experience what life was like 100 years ago,” Museum Director Eriks Garsvo said.

2 two-way races for Jordan Valley School Board

JORDAN VALLEY Of the three seats opening on the Jordan Valley School Board, one incumbent is the sole candidate for his seat, and there are two two-way races, with two candidates vying for a seat that is currently vacant. Voters will decide the outcome in the upcoming 2021 District Director Election on May 18. All of the seats are four-year terms, and incumbent Joshua Mackenzie doesn’t have any challengers for Position 3. For Position 2, which is currently vacant, Whitni Matteri and Patrick Anderson will face off; and Cody Starbuck will run against Michael Skinner for Position 4. Candidates were all invited to participate in the Argus Observer’s introduction to the community. The deadline was noon on Monday.

Saint Alphonsus receives FEMA trailer for vaccine outreach

BOISE – Saint Alphonsus Health System is proud to receive a Federal Emergency Management Agency vaccination trailer, or Mobile Vaccine Unit, to serve rural communities in Southwestern Idaho.  Saint Alphonsus is the only health system and vaccine provider in Idaho selected by FEMA to operate the unit, based on the system’s demonstrated ability to scale up mobile vaccine operations.  Saint Alphonsus has been providing improved vaccine access to underserved and rural areas in the Treasure Valley and Eastern Oregon since early March.  The health system will focus its initial outreach clinics with the MVU in Public Health Districts 3 and 4, Southwest District Health and Central District Health Departments.

New EROS Tool Shows County-By-County Change Across United States Land Change, County By County National Land Cover Database Enhanced Visualization Tool Explore Your County Release Date: April 6, 2021 The USGS Earth Resources Observation and Science (EROS) Center has released a new online tool to help the public better visualize county-by-county land change across the United States. The National Land Cover Database (NLCD) Enhanced Visualization and Analysis (EVA) tool lets users pick any county in the U.S. and see how much change has occurred between 2001-2016. The interactive mapping tool breaks down change with graphs, charts and spreadsheets, and includes special sections showing growth or loss of impervious urban surfaces, forested lands and wetlands. A cropland change viewer is in development.
