“It’s nice to have some good news for a change” Most of Overture s lost 2020-2021 season will be back next year Joan Marcus Shoba Narayan, Ta Rea Campbell and Nyla Sostre in the 2018 touring production of Hamilton; the musical returns to Overture Center in August 2022. There are a lot of people who would like a do-over for 2020 — an opportunity to go back and experience all the things we had planned for the year that were put on hold by the COVID-19 pandemic and ensuing quarantine. For those Madison area theatergoers, Overture Center’s Tim Sauers has some very good news: Most of the lost 2020-2021 season will be back next year. And, provided season ticket holders didn’t already ask for refunds or donate their tickets to Overture, they don’t have to do a thing to enjoy it, except wait.

Sit with it Shawn Harper/American Family Insurance Institute Let s Talk About It documents the murals downtown, but also is meant to spark conversation. Let’s Talk About It: The Art, the Artists and the Racial Justice Movement on Madison’s State Street is more than a coffee table book. It’s a conversation-starter for a hard conversation. The hefty volume (more than four pounds!), complete with slipcase, is a joint project of the city of Madison and the American Family Insurance Institute for Corporate and Social Impact. It documents the more than 100 murals commissioned by the city created on the plywood that covered downtown store windows following the protests of the police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis at the end of May.
