A warm-hearted Oldham man has been hailed as a hero and a life-saver after he came to the aid of an elderly gentleman who had threatened to commit suicide.
Blake Walker, who himself has a history of mental health issues and is supported by care organisation KeyRing in Oldham, carried out his heroics after coming across a man in clear distress on Barker Street estate in Oldham.
Lee Chatterley, from the KeyRing Living Support Network, told the Chronicle: “KeyRing supports vulnerable adults to live independently and gain life skills.

There is set to be some huge bargains on offer at Debenhams in Oldham ahead of the store’s final closing date on May 2.
The Spindles retail giant has announced that 27 of its stores across England and Wales will close their doors for the final time next month.
Up to 80 per cent is set to be slashed from fashion and homeware prices, and up to 70 per cent off beauty and fragrance.
All Debenhams stores are Covid-secure, with appropriate hygiene and social distancing measures having been put in place.
Police say a man who went missing from Oldham, nine days ago, has been found.
Officers issued an appeal after Ronny Kunstman, who is 39 years old, was last seen at his home in Coldhurst at around 3pm on Sunday 11 April 2021.
They issued a discription of him for the media.
But he has now been found safe and well.
