Ole Miss falls to Vanderbilt, tournament hopes in trouble SOURCE: Vanderbilt Athletics (Source: Vanderbilt Athletics) By Ole Miss Sports Information | February 28, 2021 at 10:18 AM CST - Updated February 28 at 10:18 AM NASHVILLE, Tn. - Devontae Shuler and Romello White combined for 42 points while each shooting over 50 percent from the floor, but the Vanderbilt Commodores found success from their bench and from long range as they upset the Ole Miss 75-70 in Memorial Gymnasium Saturday afternoon.  The Rebels (13-10, 8-8 SEC) shot 44 percent (25 of 57) from the floor with Shuler leading the way with 25 points (10 of 20) followed by White’s 17 points (6 of 10) to go along with eight rebounds.

Nikhazy fans 10 but Rebels’ streak comes to an end SOURCE: Ole Miss Athletics (Source: Ole Miss Athletics) By Ole Miss Sports Information | February 26, 2021 at 11:40 PM CST - Updated February 26 at 11:40 PM OXFORD, Miss. - Doug Nikhazy struck out 10 batters while allowing three hits, but a strong pitching effort and the long ball allowed the UCF Knights to snap a 20-game winning streak for the No. 1 Ole Miss Rebels and pull off the upset 3-2 at Swayze Field on Friday. On the mound, Nikhazy (0-1) went 6.1 innings and gave up two earned runs on 90 pitches, both via solo home runs in the seventh inning. At the plate, Justin Bench and Hayden Dunhurst both went 2-for-4, with runs coming from a Cael Baker RBI single that scored Ben Van Cleve and a Hayden Dunhurst solo home run. On the other end, Colton Gordon gave up six hits and struck out six batters. Gordon also stranded six Rebels on base in a pitchers’ duel to open the weekend series.

The Rebels used a four-run second inning to start fast and held on the rest of the way to knock off the No. 10 TCU Horned Frogs 7-3. Doug Nikhazy was relieved by Jackson Kimbrell (1-0) after 1.2 innings pitched and faced 10 batters with four strikeouts. Taylor Broadway pitched the final four innings in long relief with 61 pitches and came away with the save. Broadway allowed one hit and struck out five of 13 betters.
