In a moment of honesty, I’ll admit that the Khalil Herbert pick was something of a head-scratcher when it flashed across my screen. The Bears already had David Montgomery, Damian Williams, and Tarik Cohen in the fold. And with Artavis Pierce and Ryan Nall angling for playing time, the fit didn’t make sense. But given some time to chew on it, Herbert makes sense on multiple levels.
For instance, there is no such thing as too much running back depth. The Bears saw first-hand how depth can quickly evaporate when David Montgomery and Tarik Cohen missed time due to injuries. Secondly, running backs like Herbert provide special teams value (which shouldn’t be overlooked). And finally, Herbert was a value pick. Some analysts and insiders had fourth-round grades on Herbert. PFF liked him as a top-100 prospect and the site’s RB5 in this class. Getting a top-5 prospect at an offensive skill position in the sixth round is a tremendous value

Cleveland, OH. Five former Oregon Ducks and two former Oregon State Beavers were selected across seven rounds of the 2021 NFL Draft.
Penei Sewell headlined the group as the Detroit Lions took him with the 7th overall pick. The Lions went back to the state of Oregon with their final pick of the draft, taking Oregon State running back Jermar Jefferson in the seventh round.

The Kentucky Wildcats’ search for a point guard for the 2021-22 season continues as they have contacted a lot of players that have entered the transfer portal.
Now, there is another name that Calipari has reached out to as the crazy offseason continues.
Former Georgia Bulldogs’ point guard Sahvir Wheeler put his name in the transfer portal last week and Kentucky is one of the schools to contact him.
In an interview with KSR’s Jack Pilgrim, Wheeler opened up about Kentucky’s interest in him. Like we have seen with a lot of players that enter the transfer portal, Wheeler also declared for the NBA Draft hoping to get quality feedback from NBA teams.
Travis Throckmorton, rising 3-star quarterback, commits to Oregon State Beavers

After a Zoom meeting with multiple members of the Oregon State Beavers coaching staff this week, Simi Valley High School (California) quarterback Travis Throckmorton has leaning toward making a commitment.
But first he wanted to check out Corvallis and the Oregon State University campus for the spring game.
On Friday, the 6-foot-3, 205-pound signal-caller sped up those plans, committing to the Beavers.
The news, first reported by Los Angeles Times sports reporter Eric Sondheimer, was confirmed by Throckmorton shortly after the announcement.
