Feb. 18 A year into the pandemic, California s workplace safety watchdog still doesn t know how many nursing home workers have contracted COVID-19 on the job and died, a Sacramento Bee review of state records shows.
California s health department regularly updates a list of COVID-19 infections and deaths at nursing homes. But only about half of those listed facilities have bothered to report the death to Cal/OSHA, the agency in charge of enforcing worker safety, according to the state records.

A NEW development in Eastleigh has reached one step closed to completion as the build reached its highest point. Summergate Lodge, a new Retirement Living development in North Stoneham, reached its highest point of the build in December. A topping out ceremony was held to mark the key milestone for Housing 21’s latest Retirement Living scheme, which has been developed in partnership with Eastleigh Borough Council. The Housing 21 team were joined by representatives from Eastleigh Borough Council and Highwood Homes to celebrate the occasion. Paul Tewksbury, head of retirement living at Housing 21, said: “We are delighted to reach this important milestone in the development of Summergate Lodge. The scheme will provide much needed homes for older people in the area.”

Long-term care centers top cluster list Schools revise quarantine rules
The state updated its COVID-19 statistics this week and announced that a weekly vaccine update will be published on its website every Wednesday by 5 p.m. in English and Spanish. Meanwhile, Great Bend USD 428 revised its quarantine rules.
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (www.coronavirus.kdheks.gov) reports there have been 179,803 COVID-19 cases statewide this year, resulting in 5,654 hospitalizations and 1,941 deaths as of 9 a.m. Wednesday. There were 5,778 new cases, 85 new deaths and 145 new hospitalizations reported since Monday, Dec. 7.
KDHE shows 1,859 total cases for Barton County and 834 for Pawnee County.
