Food, sanitary products and entertainment you can get for free in Worcester

Free food and various activities are often provided by Tolladine Mission. You can follow one of their sister pages on Facebook, Tea at Tolly to keep up to date with food giveaways. As the title suggests, their Friday Free Shop often takes place at Christ Church End in the Tolly Hub. Worcester Foodbank, Opening times:  Monday, Wednesday and Friday 11am-2pm. Owner, Grahame Lucas said many locals are coming to the food bank as a result of  reduced income through furlough. He added: “A lot of people who come to us have lost work- like those on zero hour contracts.”

Senators Introduce Bipartisan Bill to Increase Retirement Plan Participation The Improving Access to Retirement Savings Act is intended to open MEPs to 403(b) plans and more small businesses. Three US senators have introduced legislation they say would make improvements to existing laws to help more organizations and small businesses participate in retirement plans, including multiple employer plans (MEPs) and pooled employer plans (PEPs). Sens. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa; Maggie Hassan, D-New Hampshire; and James Lankford, R-Oklahoma, say the Improving Access to Retirement Savings Act would build off the Setting Every Community Up for Retirement Enhancement (SECURE) Act which was passed in late 2019 and help 403(b) plans, among other provisions. The legislation would allow 403(b)s to participate in MEPs.

Perdiswell Young People s Leisure Club s offering free school meals this half term

(Jacqui Bradley/North Lanarkshire Council/Perdiswell Young People’s Leisure Club) A YOUTH AND COMMUNITY FACILITY on Droitwich Road is offering locals free school meals and activities during the May half term school holidays. Hayley Tally, manager of Perdiswell Young People’s Leisure Club said they have been running the scheme during the school holidays all year. Hayley said: “There has been a lot of talk about free school meals in the media- and we had funding from various places to provide this facility. “We really wanted to provide children with an opportunity to have food even out of term time.”
