Rising trend in temperature; Saham records 48 degrees C Lakshmi Kothaneth SHARE
North Al Batinah experienced the hottest day in months as Saham touched 48 degrees Celsius at midday on Wednesday.
The high temperature was recorded in other areas of North Al Batinah, such as Suhar, Khaboura, and Suwaiq. Muscat Governorate also recorded high-temperature cooling down to 44 degrees by late afternoon and coming down to 42. Bausher in Muscat experienced 46 degrees Celsius, but Al Amerat recorded 46 to 47 degrees Celsius. Sur and Wadi Al Maawil reached 46 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, but Suhar and Suwaiq were forecast to touch 50 degrees.
The exceptionally high temperatures are being experienced even before the official beginning of summer in Oman.

Muscat: Starting from Wednesday until Friday, a warning alert has been sent to sea-goers and fishermen about the height of sea waves on the coasts of Musandam and Oman Sea, by Oman Meteorology.
A statement issued online by the Oman Meteorology said: The continuation of the upheaval of the Arabian Sea, reaching its maximum height between 3.0 - 3.5 metres, and expectations of sea wave height in the coasts of Musandam and the Sea of Oman, where average waves are expected to reach their maximum height between 2.0 -2.5 metres from tomorrow until Friday. Sea-goers and fishermen, please pay attention and take caution.
