The Israeli army has recommended a strong military response if the cease-fire is breached by one of the Palestinian organizations in the Gaza Strip, as international actors work to shore up the truce that went into effect on Friday.
Top commanders at the IDF believe that the severe blow to Hamas defenses will make it easier for Israel to operate again, even on the ground, in case of another escalation. The recommendation to the government was formulated in talks ahead of the end of the operation in the Strip.

Masked Hamas fighters brandishing assault rifles paraded in Gaza City and the group’s top leader made his first public appearance on Saturday, in a defiant show of victory after the militants 11-day war with Israel.
Dozens of Hamas fighters wearing military camouflage paraded past the mourning tent for Bassem Issa, a senior commander killed in the fighting. The top Hamas leader in Gaza, Yahya Sinwar, paid his respects in his first public appearance since the war began almost two weeks ago.
