Coast Guard seizes 30,000 yaba pills, arrests 5 drug traders in Teknaf UNB, Dhaka UNB, Dhaka
Bangladesh Coast Guard today seized 30,000 yaba pills and arrested five alleged drug traffickers during a raid on the Naf River in Cox s Bazar s Teknaf.
A wooden boat was also seized, said Lt Commander Amirul Islam of Coast Guard Headquarters.
The arrestees are Nurul Amin (50), Abdul Quddus (40), Karim Mollah (25), Omar Faruque (22) and Sanam Ullah (30). All of them are inhabitants of Shah Porir Dwip.
Acting on a tip-off, a Coast Guard team from Saint Martin s station conducted the drive on the Naf River. Around 1:35 pm, they saw a wooden boat crossing into Bangladesh from Myanmar. It tried to flee the scene seeing the speed boat of the law enforcers. The Coast Guard team then chased the boat and was able to seize it, said the official.

Embezzling gold worth Tk 11.40 crore: 5 Samabaya Bank officials remanded Star Digital Report Star Digital Report
A Dhaka court today placed five high-ranked officials of Bangladesh Samabaya Bank Ltd, including its Deputy General Manager, on a three-day remand for allegedly embezzling their clients deposited gold worth Tk 11.40 crore.
The officials are DGM Abdul Alim, AGM (Accounts) Hedayet Kabir, ex-Principal Officer Md Mahbubul Haque, Principal Officer Md Omar Faruque and Senior Officer (cash) Nur Mohammad.
Judge KM Emrul Kayesh of the Senior Special Judge s Court of Dhaka passed the order after Mohammad Ibrahim, deputy director of the Anti-Corruption Commission – also the investigation officer of the case – produced them with a three-day remand prayer.
