Syracuse, N.Y. Kayla Johnson thought she’d be planning protests Tuesday.
She assumed former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin would be found not guilty in George Floyd’s murder.
“We assumed something bad would happen,” Johnson said. “That’s just what we’re used to.”
But after the first guilty verdict against Derek Chauvin was read, Johnson began to cry. After the third, she fell to her knees.
She sat there at home alone as ABC showed the end of Chauvin’s trial.
“That let me know change is happening,” she said.
