A resident of the nearby Ramada Inn is facing charges in connection with a fire at the Fielder s Choice Ice Cream property.
The fire was reported just before 3:00 Sunday afternoon at 339 Odlin Road, which is the location of the new Fielder s Choice Ice Cream. Witnesses at a garage across the street had called 911 to report flames coming from the building that sits near the front of the facility s parking lot. The storage shed, containing lawn care equipment and a bobcat tractor, was fully engulfed in flames when crews arrived on the scene. No one was injured in the incident but the building was a total loss.

A resident of the Ramada Inn in Bangor has been arrested for allegedly setting fire to a storage shed at Fielder’s Choice Ice Cream on Sunday. Michael Benfield, formerly of Tacoma, Washington, is charged with arson and burglary for the fire that destroyed the building on Odlin Road in Bangor.
Fielder s Choice Ice Cream just barely opened their doors, when a storage building on their property was destroyed by fire.
The ice cream shop celebrated their grand opening on April 1st, at the old location of Blackbeard s, on the Odlin Road in Bangor. Then on Sunday afternoon, the Bangor Fire Department was called to their location when witnesses at a nearby gas station saw flames coming from a storage building on the Fielder s Choice property. Captain Andrew Emery tells us the structure was fully involved when crews arrived. The building, that housed a bobcat tractor and lawn care implements, is considered a total loss. No injuries were reported.
