By Rebekah Gonzalez May 19, 2021 The U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Customs and Border Protection have intercepted massive amounts of illegal drugs throughout the months of April and May. Almost 2,500 pounds of methamphetamine hidden inside of a shipment of medical supplies were seized by border officials in Otay Mesa over the weekend, reports The drugs were contained in 120 packages hidden by medical supplies and were onboard a tractor-trailer that entered the Otay Mesa Commercial Facility at 9:45 A.M. on Saturday, May 15, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection. The packages weighed approximately 2,425 pounds and were worth around $5.5 million, according to border officials.
