By the time a single dose of it had been injected into the left arm of a respiratory therapist, it had been painstakingly moved more than half a dozen times in a complex chain-of-custody delivery process.

Pamela M. Westman, 75, passed away at the Chau-tauqua Nursing and Reha-bilitation Center on Mon-day, Jan. 11, 2021 after a lengthy battle with demen-tia and complications due to COVID-19. She was born on Aug. 23, 1945, the daughter of the late Frank and Stefania (nee Zapor) Gabalac.
A lifelong and voracious learner, Pam earned de-grees in English, nursing, and women’s studies. She was employed as a re-gistered nurse at Brooks Memorial Hospital for 15 years and was an educator and guest speaker for the hospital’s Percept Program with JCC students. Pam was a friend to the Christo-pher Wellness Center, now known as the Circle of Love, and was essential to the program’s networking in its early years. She also served as secretary of the local chapter of the Ameri-can Association of Univer-sity Women.

WESTFIELD A Fredonia woman is facing a Leandra’s Law charge following a traffic stop over the weekend.
New York state troopers were alerted Saturday at 3 p.m. for a report of a vehicle facing eastbound in the westbound lane on Route 20 in the town of Westfield. Troopers and officers with the Westfield Police Department located the vehicle and identified the driver as 30-year-old Megann M. Panek along with a 6-year-old child.
Police noted “obvious signs of impairment” of Panek, who also was unable to answer questions regarding her intended destination or where she was coming from.

Raymond E. “Rafty” Schrantz, 90, of Dunkirk, died Monday morning (Dec. 28, 2020) at Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk.
