What s On TV, May 16: Adieu (for now), The Nevers

(HBO, 9 p.m., finale for part one of season one): Tonight, Roxana Hadadi will bid farewell to the Orphans of The Nevers, at least for now while part two has not yet been scheduled, the six-episode run that concludes this evening is merely the first half the show’s first season. May 16, 2021, 11:00 a.m. ET “Run the World” is much more than a Black “Sex and the City.”Credit.Cara Howe/Starz Entertainment By Kellie Carter Jackson Kellie Carter Jackson is a professor in the Department of Africana Studies at Wellesley College and the author of “Force and Freedom: Black Abolitionists and the Politics of Violence.” Do you remember that scene in “Sex and the City” when Carrie gets dumped by her boyfriend via Post-it note? “I’m sorry,” it reads. “I can’t. Don’t hate me.” That’s what I think of when my friends ask if I’ve seen the latest TV show populated almost entirely by white people: I’m sorry. I can’t. Don’t hate me.
