A low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal has intensified into a depression that will cross the West Bengal and Odisha coasts on May 26 as a very severe cyclonic storm , the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Sunday. The depression is expected to intensify into a cyclonic storm, Yaas , by Monday, it added. It (the depression) is very likely to move north-northwestwards and intensify into a cyclonic storm by May 24 morning and further into a very severe cyclonic storm during the subsequent 24 hours. It would continue to move north-northwestwards, intensify further and reach Northwest Bay of Bengal near West Bengal and north Odisha coasts by May 26 morning, the Cyclone Warning Division of the IMD said. Mayurbhanj (Odisha) [India], May 11 (ANI): As many as 21 under-trial prisoners on Monday tested positive for COVID-19 at the Udala Sub-jail in Odisha s Mayurbhanj.
According to the Executive Officer of Udala NAC, Vidyadhar Dandapat, the prisoners who have tested positive are under isolation. Yesterday we came to know that 21 prisoners have tested positive for COVID-19. We are taking the best precautionary measures and those prisoners who have tested positive are being kept under isolation. We are also giving them proper medical treatment, said Dandapat. If needed, we will send the patients to the COVID care center, he added.

Mayurbhanj (Odisha) [India], May 3 (ANI): Three police personnel were allegedly injured in an attack by a mob in Odisha s Mayurbhanj district after they asked the people not to gather in the view of COVID-19.
According to Biswajit Das Mohapatra, Assistant Sub Inspector of the Sarat Police Station, the people were celebrating Chaiti Parba (Festival of the holy month of Chaitra) at the Debanbahali village. People were celebrating Chaiti Parba in a large group. We asked them to not gather at a spot as it might spread the COVID-19 infection. They turned hostile and vandalised our vehicle and attacked us, Mohapatra said.

At least three police personnel were injured after a police party was thrashed by a mob at a village in Odisha after they asked the villagers to follow Covid-19 protocols. At least 12 villagers from the mob have been arrested in connection with the attack on the police party.
