What will you say about the recent killings in Yewa axis of Ogun State by those alleged to be Fulani herdsmen?
In the past four to five years, we warned the people of Asa, Agbon-Ojodu, Ebute Igbooro and others to stop killing Fulani herders and their cows. They killed our people without destroying their farms. They killed herders and their cows for no just reason. We kept taking records of the incidents to the office of the Commissioner of Police in Abeokuta. We talked and talked, but nothing changed. We don’t have any power than to complain. ABEOKUTA – Many residents of Yewa communities in Ogun West Senatorial District of Ogun State have fled to Benin Republic in search of refuge and protection, following the recent deadly attacks launched on the affected communities by Fulani herdsmen.

Whereas the clashes between nomadic herders and natives of agrarian communities continue to make headlines, efforts by relevant authorities to provide mutually acceptable mediation mechanisms and find a lasting solution to the recurring hostilities have rarely gained traction in the media.
In the midst of the national malady, Ogun State has also had its ugly share. In recent weeks, some parts of Yewa axis of the state have experienced deadly attacks, allegedly carried out by armed Fulani herdsmen. The natives also reportedly fought back.

Herdsmen Crisis: Ogun Governor To Launch Amotekun In Crisis-ridden Yewa Communities
Governor Abiodun made this known at the Executive Chambers of the Governor’s Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, while speaking on the herdsmen crisis in the areas.

The Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has disclosed that the Amotekun security outfit would soon be launched in the Yewa axis of the state, noting that his administration decided to launch the security outfit first in Yewaland because of the peculiar problems in the area.
Governor Abiodun made this known at the Executive Chambers of the Governor’s Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, while speaking on the herdsmen crisis in the areas.
