You are our partner in progress - Osun Commissioner tells journalists

There is a need for the country to provide a conducive working environment for journalists so they can diligently fulfil their constitutional roles and responsibilities to the government and the governed. This assertion was made by the Osun State Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Mrs. Funke Egbemode in a goodwill message to commemorate the 2021 World Press Freedom Day. Egbemode said notwithstanding the attendant encumbrances which over the years have limited the age-old profession, the tenacity of purpose with which the practitioners have gone about their duties needs to be applauded. While describing the practitioners in Osun as good and thoroughbred professionals, the Information Commissioner used the opportunity to call on journalists to continue to be partners in progress with the administration in the state adding that the governor is committed to serving the people diligently and conscientiously.

World Press Freedom Day: Saraki calls for empowerment of journalists, media

Police assures Osun community of peace after protests against herdsmen molestations

Daily Post Nigeria Published The Osun State Commissioner of Police, Olawale Olokode, has assured residents of Otan-Ile in Obokun Local Government Council Area that he will ensure that peace returns to the town permanently. This is as he also promised that the Nigerian Police will work in the interest of the town and ensure that justice is served. The Police Public Relations Officer, Yemisi Opalola made this known while confirming to DAILY POST the recent protest against molestation by Fulani herdsmen by residents of Otan-Ile town. She revealed that the initial tension has been doused adding that the Divisional Police Officer, Ibokun has been to the palace of the traditional ruler and after a meeting with the concerned parties, peace has finally been achieved.

Appointment scandal: PDP calls for sack of Osun Attorney General, Akande

IGP, Usman Baba withdraws senior police officers from EFCC

Daily Post Nigeria Published The Acting Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Baba has withdrawn senior police officers from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). A statement by Idowu Owohunwa, principal staff officer to the IGP, said senior officers from the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) are to be released from the EFCC. It also stated that the officers are to report to the force headquarters on Wednesday by 10am. According to the statement, “the decision is informed” by the current operational requirements of the force. “The Inspector-General of Police has directed the withdrawal of all senior police officers from the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police and above attached to Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
