ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan Tuesday directed the federal cabinet to take steps for provision of direct relief to the people in view of improved economy.
He gave this direction while presiding over a meeting of the federal cabinet, which took stock of key national matters and also prayed for the coalmine workers killed in the Machh, Balochistan incident and for Osama Satti, who was shot dead by the police in Islamabad and the martyrs of Pakistan Army.
Special Assistant for Health Dr. Faisal Sultan briefed the cabinet on the current corona situation while Federal Minister for Finance Dr. Abdul Hafeez Sheikh briefed the cabinet on the state of economy, inflation and the measures to check price hike of commodities.

Anti-terrorism court (ATC) judge Raja Jawad Abbas accused on Wednesday the investigation officer (IO) in the murder case of 22-year-old Osama Satti of colluding with the suspects.
The ATC granted a week-long physical remand of the five police officers arrested for the youth s murder in Islamabad.
The accused include Mudassar Iqbal, Shakeel Ahmed, Muhammad Mustafa, Saeed Ahmed and Iftikhar Ahmed. The cops were booked in the case on the request of the slain 22-year-old s father.

ISLAMABAD: The federal cabinet on Tuesday approved the procurement of the anti-Covid-19 vaccine by relaxing the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) rules.
There will be no need to fulfil the tender requirement to procure the vaccine, which will be procured from any of the six companies registered with the Ministry of National Health Services (NHS).
The cabinet also expressed its concern over the killing of 11 members of the Hazara community in Mach, Balochistan.
The meeting, presided over by Prime Minister Imran Khan, was also briefed on the current situation of coronavirus in the country and the scheduled reopening of educational institutions announced by Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood on Monday.
