University student charged with aggravated battery in campus stabbing

In the late hours of Saturday, April 3, the University Police Department received a call regarding a disturbance on the third floor of Louisiana Hall.  Upon arrival at the scene, officers reported LSU student Draven Upchurch had suffered multiple stab wounds. According to police, Southeastern student Elizabeth Grace Johnson, 18, is accused of stabbing Upchurch following a dispute between the dating couple.  After authorities were called, both Upchurch and Johnson were rushed to North Oaks Medical Center, where Upchurch was brought into immediate surgery; Johnson was later booked into Tangipahoa Parish Jail on a charge of aggravated battery.  Southeastern spokesman Mike Rivault shared that Johnson is currently suspended from the university and the school is currently investigating the incident.

Elizabeth Grace Jones was arrested by university cops in Hammond after they received a call pertaining to a disturbance in the building. WAFB 9 News reports that the responding officers discovered Draven Upchurch an LSU student who had been visiting the campus in critical condition, with five of the stab wounds injuring his lungs, stomach and colon. The news station further reports how it was confirmed that Johnson and Upchurch had been “dating partners,” and that Johnson appeared to be “worried” during the incident.

(WVUE) - A female Southeastern Louisiana University student has bonded out of the Tangipahoa Parish Jail and is still enrolled in classes following a campus stabbing incident that occurred on Saturday night that resulted in her arrest as a suspect, said Chief Michael Beckner. According to a report provided by Beckner, Elizabeth Grace Johnson, 18, of Folsom, was arrested after University Police responded to a disturbance call about an incident on the third floor of Louisiana Hall. When police arrived they found Draven Upchurch, an LSU student visiting on campus, had been stabbed multiple times.
