Paseo Pizza Spot Temporarily Closed After Attic Fire

A restaurant in Oklahoma City’s Paseo neighborhood is closed after a fire broke out Sunday night.  “Got a call from our manager on duty that we were having a fire,” said Lesley Rawlinson, the owner of Sauced on Paseo.  No one was hurt in the fire, which firefighters estimate caused roughly $50,000 in damage.  “It s a mess in there. But it is a building, and it can be prepared,” Rawlinson said.  The fire sparked in the attic, according to a spokesperson for the Oklahoma City Fire Department. The exact cause was undetermined.  Roof damage is visible near the restaurant’s front door.

Sunday blaze shuts down Sauced on Paseo indefinitely

Up until now, Sauced on Paseo, 2912 Paseo, has managed to endure through coronavirus pandemic, but a weekend fire will keep it closed for an indeterminate time. "We hope to have the bar reopened by end of next week," Sauced on Paseo's director of operations Elise Fischbein said. "It's upstairs where there wasn't as much damage." The fire, which firefighters were still investigating, drew crews about 6:45 p.m. Sunday. Workers had already evacuated the building after smoke was detected. The fire was in a difficult to reach cock loft above the business, according to Major Louis J. Marschik of the Oklahoma City Fire Department. Firefighters extinguished the blaze from the roof using a hand-line, Marschik said in a news

City Council Approves OKCFD's Request For Nearly $500,000 Worth Of Protective Gear

The Oklahoma City Fire Department will soon receive almost $500,000 worth of protective gear. When firefighters are on the scene of a blaze, anything can happen. Without the gear, their crews can become vulnerable to injuries. “The equipment is not cheap, but our personnel are certainly worth protecting,” OKCFD Battalion Chief Benny Fulkerson said. “People think that we just fight fires, but we do a lot of other things including responding with our law enforcement partners when it comes to an active shooter situation incident or a hostile situation.” While the gear is pricey, Fulkerson can name several incidents where it would’ve helped them in the past.
