Whether they are raising scholarship money, beautifying their communities or sewing cloth face masks for healthcare workers across the state, members of Oklahoma State University Extensionâs group, Oklahoma Home and Community Education (OHCE), continue to make a difference every day. OHCE was formerly known as Home Demonstration Clubs.
Committed to making a difference, this group, established in 1935, celebrated their service to Oklahoma May 2-8 during Oklahoma Home and Community Education Week. This yearâs theme was Celebrating Your Helping Hands. This group certainly knows how to put their hands to good work. Pittsburg County Commissioners honored the group of volunteers, by proclaiming the week of May 2nd-8th as Pittsburg County OHCE Week.

Parenting in separate households can often be a difficult task, furthermore trying to stay connected, coordinate events, and be on the same page may seem impossible at times. Technology however can help co-parents and their children maintain positive communication and stay organized, while maintaining healthy boundaries. Besides phone calls, emails, and texting, there are many apps that have been created to help co-parents keep positive appropriate communication.
Useful Co-Parenting Apps Co-Parenting apps are useful because they can prevent unwanted contact and serve as a buffer limiting communication to only necessary exchanges which can help prevent conflict. Additionally, staying organized and informed can also help minimize conflict between co-parents, while allowing children to have regular contact with both parents. Spring is about to be sprung; Oklahomans need to prepare themselves for storm season. Anyone who has gone through one of the state’s storm seasons knows how quickly the weather can change. Being prepared ahead of a storm is essential for safety and peace of mind.
One of the first things families need to do is make sure their storm shelter is ready for them, said Gina Peek, Oklahoma State University Cooperative Extension housing and consumer specialist.
