Increased safety coming to Oak Ridges Drive | Orangeville Citizen

April 15, 2021   ·   0 Comments By Sam Odrowski Safety measures are being taken by the Town of Orangeville along Oak Ridge Drive after an impaired driver crashed into a resident’s front lawn last month. A joint motion brought forward by Coun. Lisa Post and Coun. Todd Taylor at a Council meeting on April 12 was passed, which will see a portable speed sign installed at Oak Ridge Drive between Island Lake Public School and the street’s hairpin bend. A sign is also to be installed; warning of the bend on the north side of the road near Graham Crescent. “There was an incident that happened on Oak Ridge Drive and Coun. Taylor and I went and spoke with a lot of the residents in the area,” Coun. Police provide a bird s eye view of poor ice conditions on Lake Simcoe

  BARRIE, ONT. The ice conditions on Lake Simcoe remain unsafe and unpredictable, according to police who took to the sky to capture a bird s eye view of the ice formation. The video shows large sections of open water, and police say as new ice forms, it can be relatively thin. Police say a snowmobile plunged through the ice on Lake Simcoe on Sunday. Fortunately, both riders got safely to shore, but the snowmobile sank and hasn t been recovered. Earlier this month, police say a dog went through the ice on Bond Lake in Oak Ridges, and despite its owner s attempt to rescue it, the family pet wasn t found.
