The single most pressing issue facing our (board, district, etc.) is , and this is what I intend to do about it.
School boards will be facing challenging decisions in the next couple of years as the true economic impact of the pandemic has not yet been realized, and together with continual challenges with the state pension system, school boards will continue to be pressed to do more with less. Additionally, we will have to find ways to assist our staff with filling the learning gap left behind by COVID. National research suggests that the average elementary and middle school student will have lost more than a full year of learning, and the true impact will not be realized until after next year.

OAK LAWN, IL The flag outside of Oak Lawn Community High School was lowered to half-mast in memory of Andy Washack, who died Feb. 26 from complications due to coronavirus. He was 18.
Andy and his brother, Marty, both seniors, were remote learners when the school began in the fall. He entered Advocate Christ Medical Center in early November after contracting COVID-19. He had been on a ventilator on and off since entering the hospital.
School officials found out late last Thursday that Andy had taken a turn for the worst. He died Friday. Social workers and the school counselor went to Andy and his brother Marty s classes.
