I-Team takes a look at who s behind the new Coachella Valley Arena

It s one of the biggest and most expensive projects the Coachella Valley has ever seen. Construction is underway on 43-acres of unincorporated land near Palm Desert just north of the I-10 freeway next to the Classic Club Golf Course. Renderings show what the $300-million, privately-funded arena is expected to look like once it s completed by the end of 2022. It will include seating for about 11,000 people, two ice rinks, along with several lounge and club areas. The arena is expected to host an American League Hockey team, live music and other sporting events. This is the kind of development that really creates a major economic impact for all of Palm Desert and the rest of the Valley, said Tim Leiweke, CEO of Oak VIew Group, the arena s developer.

Dish Networks lands another towers deal Pressure on Ericsson in the Chinese media and two towers deals top today’s news chart. Ericsson’s CEO Börje Ekholm has been trying to downplay the potential impact on the Swedish vendor’s business in China as a result of Huawei and ZTE’s ban from the Swedish 5G market, but the thorny issue may be coming to a head asan article in The Global Times, a mouthpiece for the Chinese Communist Party, cites a source suggesting that Ericsson’s 5G radio access network (RAN) business may be negatively impacted unless the Swedish regulator, the PTS, reverses its decision to exclude Huawei and ZTE on ‘security’ grounds. Ekholm stated during Ericsson’s recent Q1 earnings report webcast that the next 5G tender process “will probably come in the next few months [but] that s a bit unpredictable… we have no insight into how that would look like.” Ericsson’s share price is down by 3.9% today, so the report is having the desired

Verizon scores 5G stadium partnership with Oak View Group

| 11 May 2021 Just days after it announced that it was divesting its assets in non-core network activities and focussing on fixed and wireless networks, Verizon is to bring its 5G Ultra Wideband networks to sports arenas of the Oak View Group (OVG) to offer enhanced and immersive fan experiences. The multi-year partnership with OVG makes Verizon the exclusive 5G and wireless partner to three OVG arenas, including New York UBS Arena, Seattle Climate Pledge Arena and Coachella Valley Arena. The UBS Arena is the new home of the NHL’s New York Islanders; the Climate Pledge Arena, home to NHL’s latest expansion team the Seattle Kraken, as well as the WNBA’s Storm; and the Coachella Valley Arena will host the future AHL Palm Springs team.
