Plane crash victim identified

Taft Midway Driller The Kern County Coroner has identified the pilot killed in a small plane crash in eastern Kern County last week as a Ventura County man. Todd Q. Smart, 56, of Hidden Valley, died in the crash in a mountainous area south east of Tehachapi. The wreckage was found on Monday, more than 12 hours after a search was started when the plane was reported missing. It was last seen on radar in the area of Tehachapi-Willow Springs Road and Oak Creek Road on Saturday. The plane was on a flight from Camarillo to Mammoth Lakes when it crashed, the Kern County Sheriff said.

Ridgecrest Daily Independent The pilot killed in a plane crash in the Tehachapi mountains Saturday has been identified as Todd Q. Smart, 56, of Hidden Valley, CA. Smart died at the scene according to the Kern County Coroner s Office. His family has been notified. The plane wreckage was discovered Monday around 8:40 a.m. in the rocky terrain west of Tehachapi Willow Springs Road, south of Oak Creek Road in Tehachapi. The crash is thought to have occurred on Feb. 13 and may have been caused by high winds and low visibility in the area. The plane departed Saturday from Camarillo for Mammoth Lakes, according to a KCSO press release.

Oak Branch Road, adjoining streets will be resurfaced through DOT grant Oak Branch Road, adjoining streets will be resurfaced through DOT grant East Windsor has been awarded a $530,000 grant from the New Jersey Department of Transportation (DOT) Fiscal Year 2021 Municipal Aid Program for improvements to Oak Branch Road and its adjoining streets, Pineybranch Road, Pinehurst Drive and Warren Drive. The $530,000 state grant includes milling and resurfacing as well as other associated improvements to concrete curbing, aprons, and storm water sewer inlet grates.  The project focuses on a neighborhood of local older streets providing frequent homeowner access and use, according to information provided by the township.
