WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Gov. Ron DeSantis reiterated his desire to see Florida restaurants remain open despite the recent surge in coronavirus cases.
During a press conference Tuesday at Okeechobee Steakhouse in West Palm Beach, DeSantis said he would work to stop any attempt by the local government leaders to shut down restaurants.
“If they want to shut down businesses, I’m gonna stand in the way,” DeSantis said. “I’m gonna stand with these folks here because they have a right to make a living. And I don’t think the government has a right to put these people out of work and to not let them put food on the table for their family.”

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Gov. Ron DeSantis spoke to reporters Tuesday afternoon from West Palm Beach, giving updates on COVID-19 vaccines and trumpeting that he has restaurants’ backs as Florida keeps them open during the coronavirus outbreak.
Speaking on the second day that COVID-19 vaccines are being administered to healthcare workers in the state, DeSantis cited statistics that say the majority of infections occur in people’s homes, not restaurants.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis reiterated his commitment to keeping the state s restaurants open on Tuesday, saying the risk of getting coronavirus is less at a restaurant than it is at home.
DeSantis held a news conference at Okeechobee Steakhouse in West Palm Beach, where he said service industries including restaurants, lodging, and hospitality have taken it on the chin.
