Texas is poised to have one of the most restrictive abortion laws in the nation.
It would ban the procedure after a heartbeat is detected and would also allow anybody to sue doctors who they believe are violating the law.
John Seago with Texas Right to Life says other states allow those lawsuits.
What makes the proposed Texas law unique is that it allows anybody to sue. It s not restricted to those who are directly related to the patient.
The bill is now headed to Governor Greg Abbott s desk, and he is expected to sign it.
