A slew of promises aimed at impressing women voters
Hoping to win the Assembly polls for the third consecutive term, the AIADMK in its election manifesto released on Sunday evening promised among other things, Amma Washing Machine for all, waiving of educational loans, Amma Banking Card, MGR Green Auto and Amma Housing Scheme . It also said it would urge the Centre to reduce the fuel prices considerably.
Actor-turned politician Kamal Haasan would make his electoral debut, contesting from Coimbatore South constituency in the April 6 Tamil Nadu assembly elections.

Theni, Mar 12: Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister and AIADMK Coordinator O Panneerselvam on Friday filed his nomination to the Bodinayakkanur constituency for the April 6 Assembly polls and expressed confidence of the party winning a record straight third term in the state.
The senior party leader filed his papers on the first day of nomination, which closes on March 19. Elections to 234 Assembly seats are scheduled on April 6. Panneerselvam is seeking a third term from this Assembly segment and will be challenged by DMK s Thanga Tamilselvan, said to be his rival in the district when the latter too was in AIADMK.

The DMK fielded a newbie Sampathkumar to take on Chief Minister EK Palaniswami in Edappadi seat but nominated local strongman Thanga Tamilselvan, a former AIADMK MLA, against Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam.

Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], March 12 (ANI): Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam on Friday filed his nomination as All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) candidate from Bodinayakanur constituency for the forthcoming state assembly polls. Today, I have filed my nomination from Bodinayakanur. I have been a winning candidate for the past two times. I have done all works in the constituency. People of Bodinayakanur are satisfied with my work. That s why I ve been given this seat again, Panneerselvam told media after filing the nomination.
