A Florida police officer who fatally shot a Black suspect who had allegedly stabbed a 9-year-old girl won’t face any charges, the Orange-Osceola State Attorney’s Office has ruled.
St. Cloud police officer Devin Dunn responded to 911 calls on May 6 about a man running around shirtless and covered in blood, according to the Orlando Sentinel. When he arrived, he was told that a young girl, Jadalee, had been stabbed.
Dunn then confronted the suspect, 21-year-old Jah’Sean Hodge, and shot him four times after Hodge yelled at and changed the officers, according to video released in July.
Prosecutors on Sunday dropped the criminal charges against an Orange County man who had been accused of assaulting a deputy, despite the Sheriff’s Office finding that the deputy had stunned the man with a Taser without sufficient provocation. The decision comes just four days after the Orlando Sentinel published a story about the case.
