WREXHAM AFC didn t allow the Covid-19 pandemic to prevent them from putting smiles on the faces of children who spent Christmas in hospital. The Racecourse Community Foundation teamed up with staff of the children s ward at Wrexham Maelor Hospital to set up interactive calls between the Reds players and children on the ward. Every Christmas, Wrexham players visit the ward to spread some festive cheer - but current Covid restrictions meant that wasn t possible this year. However, Emma Cunnah-Newell, the ward s health play specialist, and Gemma Owen of Wrexham AFC s community foundation ensured the players could do the next best thing - Zoom calls.
