Minnesota man charged with unemployment fraud while already in jail

ROCHESTER, Minn. A Rochester man has been charged with two felonies after he was reportedly heard on recorded jail calls making plans to continue to collect unemployment while incarcerated.
An investigator with the Olmsted County Sheriff s Office was reviewing inmate phone calls for an unrelated investigation when he came across calls made by an inmate, identified as Samuel Steward, directing a friend to log into his unemployment account and continue to collect benefits on his behalf while he was incarcerated, according to Sgt. James Schueller.
New hearing set in Rochester attempted murder case

ROCHESTER, Minn. – A new hearing is scheduled in a Rochester murder case.
Abdirahman Abdukadir Abdullahi, 28 of Rocheter, was arrested in September 2019. Law enforcement said he and Iman Abucar-Hagi Iman of Rochester shot a man several times at Meadow Park Apartments, leaving the man paralyzed after gunshots to the upper chest, back of the head, and below the knee.
Iman has already pleaded guilty to that and shooting two other people. He was sentenced to 12 years and two months in prison.
Abdullahi pleaded not guilty to 1st and 2nd degree attempted murder and 1st and 2nd degree assault in January 2020. The last hearing in his case was August 2020.

ROCHESTER, Minn. – A plea deal has been reached in an Olmsted County attempted murder case.
Aries Nyee Candler, 23 of Rochester, entered a guilty plea Thursday to one count of drive-by shooting. He was arrested in December 2019 and charged with 1st degree attempted murder, two counts of drive-by shooting, two counts of 2nd degree assault, and possession of a firearm after being convicted of a crime of violence.
Rochester police said Candler drove up and shot at a male and female in the 1200 block of Turnberry Drive on October 29, 2019. Investigators said Candler kept shooting at the male victim as he ran away. A home in the area was struck by several bullets.
