The initiative aims to continue providing nutritious meals whilst the nation recovers from Covid-19
LONDON:
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Thursday honoured and recognised the One Million Meals campaign founded by four Pakistanis through the Points of Light Award for their extraordinary services for the National Health Services (NHS), key workers, the homeless, and people in need.
Bilal Bin Saqib, Momin Saqib, Raja Suleman Raza and Muhammad Arif Anis launched the One Million Meals campaign during the lockdown in 2020, which has seen over 100,000 meals sent to NHS and key workers, the homeless, and people in need.
Points of Light are outstanding individual volunteers – people who are making a change in their community.

Huned Patwa, MD, professor of neurology, neuromuscular medicine division chief, and VA neurology service chief, has been appointed Chief of Staff of VA Connecticut Health. Included in his new role, Dr. Patwa will also serve as Associate Dean for Veterans Affairs for Yale School of Medicine.
Dr. Patwa is a consummate physician educator and has been an internationally recognized expert in the treatment of neuromuscular diseases for over twenty years. His research interests include inflammatory neuropathies, myopathies, myasthenia gravis, and amytrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), and has led countless clinical trials. He has also served as the Yale Neurology Clerkship Director.
Medical Director/Health Authority
The City of Austin has identified Desmar Walkes, M.D. as the City’s next Medical Director/Health Authority. Dr. Walkes will begin her new duties on May 31, 2021.
Dr. Walkes has 33 years of experience in health care as a family practitioner, medical authority, medical director, and in administrative medicine. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with honors from Acadia University in Nova Scotia, Canada and her Medical Doctor degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. Dr. Walkes completed a surgical internship at Baylor College of Medicine and, for many years, has participated in medical mission trips to Central and South America, Asia, and Africa.
